I’m Em Bacon, LCSW, but you can just call me Bacon! I am so excited to be a part of Ault Holistic Therapy and to share a bit about my approach and services.

Clients often come to me feeling like they’re buzzing with anxiety or always overthinking. They pay such close attention to others, making sure everyone else is feeling comfortable, that they forget or purposely push down their own needs. There is so much pressure to always perform, to do things just right, and to hide or deny any parts of themselves that open them up to judgement, rejection, or criticism. But when you bottle up your genuine feelings and needs, eventually they burst back up to the surface and you feel completely overwhelmed.
My clients also want to feel more connected and secure in their relationships: To be more themselves, take up space, and get the kind of support they give to others. But sometimes when you’ve denied yourself for so long, you lose touch with what you actually need and who you actually are when you’re not performing.
I love to support clients in connecting to the parts of themselves that feel unacceptable, too much, or not enough. I blend practical tools for daily life challenges with approaches that help tend to deeper emotions, beliefs, and experiences that may have shaped your sense of who you are and what you’re capable of.
Education and Experience
I knew from a young age that I wanted to work in the mental health field. After taking an AP Psychology class in high school, I was sold. I moved on to receive my Bachelor’s in Psychology and Master’s of Social Work from the University of Denver. My other training includes:
Training
- IFS Level 1 Trained
- Somatic-informed, completed trainings by licensed somatic therapist
- Trained in LGBTQ+ inclusive care
- Trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- CBT and DBT graduate-level academic training, ongoing professional learning and clinical practice
I have specialized experience working with teens (15+) and young adults. I’ve worked for years supporting adolescents and young adults balancing the high demands of school, work, relationships, and daily life. I also specialize in working with LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent individuals. As a queer person with ADHD, I know the importance of having a therapist who understands these experiences and how they relate to anxiety, relationships, and how you feel towards yourself.
I also can partner with parents to offer support, perspective, and helpful information as they navigate their own questions and emotions. I support clients navigating gender-affirming health care and can provide gender-affirming care letters as part of a collaborative and affirming therapeutic process.
Outside of Therapy
I enjoy casual time in nature, like walking around my local parks to look at the blooms or see what critters can be spotted in the creek. I also like to explore new spots or events in the city. At home, I love doing activities like crocheting and playing video and board games. Overall, I love to learn and try new things, whether that’s food, fun activities, or going down interesting rabbit holes online. I am always looking for new music recommendations – feel free to share your favorites and I promise to give them a listen!
